Packaged With Care

August 07, 2026 Tricia Stevens

The beauty industry produces over 120 billion units of packaging a year, much of it ending up in landfills and oceans. Ours is built around glass and aluminum instead of plastic.

Every fresh batch is filled into glass jars topped with aluminum lids. Glass is 100% recyclable. It can be reused indefinitely without any loss in quality. Choosing it over single-use materials means fewer virgin resources pulled from the ground and lower carbon emissions across the product's life. When the glass we use is recycled rather than newly made, the energy required to produce it drops further. Glass also won't leach chemicals into what it's holding. Skin is your body's largest organ, and it absorbs a real amount of whatever sits on it. That absorbed material moves into your body, not just onto the surface of your skin. That's why the container matters as much as the formula inside it.

The rest of the packaging follows the same logic. Labels are printed on FSC certified paper with non-toxic inks.

Every facial care box also carries a veritree QR code. Scan it and you can see the actual kelp forest restoration site your purchases fund along the BC Pacific Coast.

We're curious how far people take the reuse option. Tag us @plantdskincare with what your empty jars become once the product's gone.
